Biography/Information:

  • India’s Pankaj Advani has an incredible 15 World Championship Billiards titles to his name, despite being just 34 years of age at the time of writing. As if this is not enough, he also has a further 7 World Snooker (IBSF) titles to his name.
  • Taught by the legendary Arvind Savur from an early age, he had a very successful junior career, becoming Karnataka State junior Snooker champion and later Indian junior champion in both disciplines on several occasions.
  • In 2005 he became the first player to win both the short and long format IBSF titles in the same season, a feat he achieved again in 2008. In 2009 he became World Professional Champion, beating Mike Russell in the final at Leeds. From 2014-19 he has won the IBSF Billiards Championship every year, in either of the formats.
  • Pankaj has also been honoured with various awards from the Indian government, including the Padma Bhushan in 2018. He is also a member of the exclusive club of players to have made a thousand break in competition, which he achieved in 2018 at the ECA G. Raman Nair Billiards Handicap Tournament at Bengaluru, when he compiled a 1092 unfinished.
