  • Dan officiated the professional game of both Snooker and Billiards during the 1990’s, and is proud to have refereed every living World Professional Snooker Champion, as well as others who are no longer with us, at some point during their careers. He has also refereed professional 9-ball Pool.
  • Dan has refereed finals at European and International level in singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team formats, across junior, senior and masters levels. He took charge of the World Billiards Championship final in 2013.

Biography/Information:

  • Dan became a Billiards and Snooker Referees’ Examiner in the late 1980’s and has carried out more than 300 examinations. Dan was a member of the panel which awarded Jan Verhaas his Class 1 certificate for Snooker, and was later an examiner for Chris Coumbe’s Class 1 Billiards upgrade in 2014. Chris’s support from Dan during his refereeing journey led to him becoming the World’s youngest ever Class 1 referee.
  • Dan has worked for World Billiards on many occasions as a Tournament Director. He was instrumental in supporting the inaugural Americas Cup in Winnipeg in 2013 and has been involved in our Canadian events ever since. He mentored local WVEBL member Don Senkiw as a Tournament Director for these events and held seminars for local referees.
  • Having been involved in the formation of the Saffron Walden and District Snooker League in 1961-62, Dan is now a Life President and was also a member of the Cambridgeshire county committee. He has twice served on the board of England’s National Governing Body and was a member of the WPBSA rules committee in the 1990’s.
  • Refereeing one of the World’s greatest all-round sportsmen Eddie Charlton in an International Golden Cue tournament (Snooker, English Billiards, Carom and 3 Pool disciplines), and calling 70 cannons on Roxton Chapman twice during his career are among his fondest memories.
